The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle made its public debut in 1972, following a rollout ceremony in 1971, and went on to become the most successful air superiority fighter in history. With a combat record of more than 100 aerial victories and zero losses in air-to-air combat, the Eagle is in a class by itself.
The F-15 was designed in response to intelligence reports about the Soviet MiG-25 Foxbat — an aircraft that appeared to represent a significant leap beyond anything the U.S. had in service. The resulting Eagle was a twin-engine, twin-tail masterpiece, capable of accelerating faster than it could climb at maximum power, with thrust-to-weight ratio exceeding 1:1.
Its combat record is extraordinary. Israeli F-15s racked up dozens of kills in air combat over Lebanon and Syria in the 1980s. USAF Eagles flew combat air patrols over Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and countless other theaters. As of today, the F-15's air-to-air kill ratio stands at over 100 victories with zero losses.
The Eagle has evolved continuously — from the original F-15A/B through the F-15C/D to the F-15E Strike Eagle and the latest F-15EX Advanced Eagle. It has served with the USAF, Israel, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, and Qatar. More than 50 years after its first flight, it is still in production.
The Eagle's record speaks for itself. At Cleared4Tees, we build tees for pilots who know that history.
